📖 the story…

• remi appeared on American Idol as a senior in high school

• despite advancing - she decided to not appear on the show after round 1

  • rumors that she wanted to go to USC school of music instead of get a [bad] record deal from american idol

• after USC, she released her first EP (you’re a dog!), signed to island records, and went on tour opening for still woozy/cautious clay

  • side note: this is where i was introduced to remi, and she stole the show as ‘the opener’ (video i took)

• after the success of her first EP, prepping for her second, the pandemic hit, and she fell into drinking heavily while in lockdown

• things came to a head after she blacked out during her first post-lockdown show, and she checked herself into rehab soon-after

  • since her sobriety, she’s doubled down on her craft, her weirdness, and her unwillingness to fit the ‘female pop star’ mold…and we’re all the luckier for it
